In a statement published yesterday the Asia Pacific Greens Federation APGF condemned the military attack on Gaza by the Israeli government, and Councilor,Shirine Jurdi representing Lebanon at the APGF has pushed towards this statement.
And this is the text:
We, the members of the Asia Pacific Greens Federation, condemn the ongoing military attack on Gaza by the Israeli government and the denial of adequate food, water, electricity, and communications to the captive 2.3 million Palestinian civilians.
We call on our Global Greens members and Federations to join us in condemning Israel’s inhumane, ongoing attack and killing of many, many thousands of Palestinians, of which more than half are women and children.
While we also condemn the actions of Hamas on October 7 and the taking of hostages, we recognize also that this conflict did not start on October 7 this year, but in May 1948 with the Nakba and the creation of the Palestine refugee problem and ongoing Israeli settlement and occupation.
The subsequent actions by the apartheid state of Israel have been likened to genocide by many experts and human rights organizations and amount to grave war crimes and collective punishment, which can never be justified.
We call on all Global Greens Federations and members to take urgent steps to work for an immediate ceasefire and for unconditional humanitarian aid and negotiations which allow Palestinians freedom, self-determination, and security into the future.
The Global Greens Charter commitment to non-violence is based on our belief that peace and justice can never be achieved by violence and injustice.
